Four Swords Adventures continues the story of the original Four Swords. Shadow Link has kidnapped the Shrine Maidens, and the sorcerer Vaati has been set free. Link draws the Four Sword, splitting into four Links, and sets out to save Hyrule. Behind it all is Ganon.
One player controls all four Links, moving them in formation or splitting them up to solve puzzles; with friends, each player controls one Link using a Game Boy Advance connected to the GameCube. Each stage is a race to gather enough Force Gems to power up the Four Sword before reaching the stage's dark barrier.
The main Hyrulean Adventure has eight worlds of three stages each. The game also includes Shadow Battle, a battle mode for two to four players, and, in Japan only, Navi Trackers.
