Bosses

How to beat every boss in A Link Between Worlds. Each one leaves a Heart Container. In Lorule, beating a boss also lets you free one of the Seven Sages from their painting.

Hyrule

Yuga (Eastern Palace; Bow)
Yuga slips in and out of the walls as a painting. When he comes out, stun him with an arrow, then run in and slash him with your sword. As the fight goes on he adds lightning bolts, soldiers and fire. After the fight he turns Link into a painting, and that's how you learn to merge into walls.

Margomill (House of Gales; Tornado Rod)
When the spinning Margomill gets close, use the Tornado Rod to lift yourself up and land on top of it, then slash its eye until you're thrown off. Wear down the layers of its body, then repeat. Later it adds more body sections and moves faster.
Reward: Heart Container and the Pendant of Wisdom.

Moldorm (Tower of Hera; sword)
Fight it on top of the tower. Slash the tip of its red tail, and stay away from the edges so it doesn't knock you off. It speeds up as it takes damage.
Reward: Heart Container and the Pendant of Power.

Yuga (Hyrule Castle; Master Sword)
Yuga makes two copies of himself. Only the real one has a flaming staff. Hitting a copy just turns it into a soldier, so go for the real one until he runs away.

Lorule

Gemesaur King (Dark Palace; Bombs, Lamp)
Light the torches in the corners so the boss appears. Lay bombs in its path to break its gem-studded mask, then slash the gem on its forehead. When it blows out the torches and goes berserk, relight them with the Lamp to calm it down. Merging into a wall gets you out of its way.
Reward: Heart Container and Gulley the Sage.

Arrghus (Swamp Palace; Hookshot)
Pull the small eyeballs off Arrghus with the Hookshot and slash each one. With its eyeballs gone, Arrghus starts jumping at you and firing beams that explode in the water a moment later. Slash it between jumps until it's beaten.
Reward: Heart Container and Oren the Sage.

Knucklemaster (Skull Woods; merging)
When the giant hand clenches into a glowing fist, merge into the wall. It punches the wall and stuns itself, leaving its eye open; slash it as many times as you can. Later it pounds the floor three times in a row before punching. Dodge the pounds, stay away from the pit in the middle, and merge before the punch.
Reward: Heart Container and Seres the Sage.

Stalblind (Thieves' Hideout; merging)
Attack Stalblind so he raises his shield, then merge into the shield. When he turns around, jump out behind him and attack his back. Watch out for his black flames. Later he throws his shield away. In the last phase his head flies around the room breathing fire while you keep attacking his body from behind.
Reward: Heart Container and Osfala the Sage.

Zaganaga (Desert Palace; Sand Rod)
Use the Sand Rod to raise sand pillars and reach this giant cactus-like monster, then slash it as much as you can. It blows sand at you and sends out small minions.
Reward: Heart Container and Irene the Sage.

Dharkstare (Ice Ruins; Fire Rod)
Dharkstare hides in ice and fires blasts of ice. Melt the ice around it with the Fire Rod, then slash it before it freezes over again. When three points of light form a triangle on the floor, get out of the triangle. It gets faster as it takes damage.
Reward: Heart Container and Rosso the Sage.

Grinexx (Turtle Rock; Ice Rod)
Grinexx moves around under the floor. Drop ice on its shell with the Ice Rod when it passes under one of the holes. After enough hits it climbs up onto the platform. Then slash its head, staying back from its long neck and its spinning attacks.
Reward: Heart Container and Impa the Sage.

Yuga Ganon (Lorule Castle; Master Sword, Bow of Light)
Yuga Ganon blocks most attacks and only drops his guard when he uses his trident, so dodge it and strike. In the second phase he turns into a painting on the wall. Hit his balls of energy back at him with your sword. Princess Zelda then gives you the Bow of Light. Merge into the wall after him and shoot him with a Light Arrow to drive him out, then attack his back. In the last phase he throws two energy balls in a row; hit both back to stun him, then finish him off.
