Items & Equipment

Every item in A Link Between Worlds and where to get it. Most of Link's weapons come from Ravio's shop instead of the dungeons, which means you can tackle the dungeons in almost any order.

Ravio's Shop

Early in the game, Ravio moves into Link's house and turns it into a shop. You can rent his items cheaply, but if you fall in battle, Ravio takes the rented items back and you have to rent them again. Later on, after you reach Lorule, you can buy them outright and keep them for good. Your first purchase is half price. Only items you own can be upgraded by Mother Maiamai.

  • Bow: Ravio lends it to you free the first time, before the Eastern Palace. Hits switches and distant enemies.
  • Boomerang: stuns enemies and grabs items from a distance.
  • Hookshot: pulls you to wooden posts and across gaps, and pulls levers and eyeballs toward you.
  • Bombs: blow open cracked walls and floors.
  • Fire Rod: shoots fire to light torches, burn obstacles and melt ice.
  • Ice Rod: creates blocks of ice, which can cool lava and press switches.
  • Tornado Rod: creates a whirlwind that lifts you into the air, stuns enemies and blows away gray tiles. Renting it costs 20 Rupees.
  • Sand Rod: raises pillars of sand to walk on. It only becomes available after you rescue Osfala in the Thieves' Hideout.
  • Hammer: pounds down pegs, flips enemies and launches you off springs. Renting it costs 20 Rupees.

Instead of ammunition, almost every item draws from a purple energy gauge that refills over time. Merging into walls uses it too.

Equipment You Find

  • Ravio's Bracelet: Ravio's gift at the start. After the Eastern Palace it lets Link merge into walls as a painting and walk along them.
  • Lamp: in the first chest in the Sanctuary. Lights torches and dark rooms.
  • Shield: sold in the Kakariko Village shop.
  • Hylian Shield: found in Turtle Rock. It also blocks fire and magic.
  • Net: from the Bee Man in Kakariko Village, once you have a bottle. Catches bees and fairies to keep in bottles.
  • Pegasus Boots: from the shady guy in Kakariko, to make up for stealing the Zora Queen's Smooth Gem. Dash into trees and enemies.
  • Zora's Flippers: from Queen Oren of the Zoras. Buy the Smooth Gem back from the street merchant in Kakariko (200 Rupees) and throw it into her pool. Lets you swim and dive.
  • Gulley's Pouch: find it in the clearing in the Haunted Grove. The blacksmith's wife lets you keep it, so you can assign items to two buttons.
  • Bell: from Irene the witch. Ring it to call her for a ride to any weather vane you've touched.
  • Power Glove: from Rosso after you clear the rocks around his house. Lifts small rocks.
  • Titan's Mitt: found in the Desert Palace. Lifts big boulders.
  • Stamina Scroll: found in the Ice Ruins. Makes your energy gauge bigger.
  • Blue Mail: found in the Swamp Palace. Halves the damage you take.
  • Red Mail: found in Lorule Castle. Cuts the damage you take even more.
  • Pendants of Virtue: the Pendant of Courage from Princess Zelda, the Pendant of Wisdom from the House of Gales and the Pendant of Power from the Tower of Hera. With all three you can draw the Master Sword.

The Master Sword and Master Ore

The Master Sword rests in the Lost Woods. Once you have the three Pendants, you can pull it from its pedestal. At full health, it fires a beam when you swing. Four pieces of Master Ore are hidden in Lorule. Take two to the blacksmith in Hyrule for the first upgrade, and two more to the blacksmith in Lorule for the strongest version of the sword.

  • Dark Palace: in the room with the boarded-up windows.
  • Skull Woods: in a big chest near the eyeball puzzle, reached by merging along the wall.
  • Thieves' Hideout: in the big chest in the flooded basement room. Thief Girl helps you reach it.
  • Lorule Graveyard: lift the big rock in the corner of the graveyard with the Titan's Mitt and follow the cave.

Bottles

There are five bottles to find:

  1. Street merchant: buy one from the street merchant in Kakariko Village for 100 Rupees.
  2. Under the bridge: once you have the Zora's Flippers, swim under the big white bridge east of Link's house. The man living there gives you one.
  3. Message in a bottle: a bottle floats in the shallow water east of Lake Hylia. Take Premium Milk from the Milk Bar in Kakariko to the lost climber on Death Mountain, near Rosso's Ore Mine (you need the Hookshot to get there). He gives you the empty bottle back.
  4. The vacant house in Lorule: bomb the back wall and open the chest inside.
  5. The Great Rupee Fairy: in Lorule, near Thieves' Town. Blow open her cave, then donate 3,000 Rupees and she gives you a bottle.

Potions and Bottle Contents

The witch's house north of the Eastern Palace sells potions. The special potions also need monster parts (Monster Tails, Horns and Guts), which enemies drop.

  • Red Potion: restores hearts.
  • Blue Potion: restores all your hearts.
  • Yellow Potion: makes you briefly invincible.
  • Purple Potion: damages the enemies around you.
  • Milk: restores five hearts. Sold at the Milk Bar in Kakariko.
  • Fairies and bees: catch them with the Net, or buy them. A fairy revives you if you fall.

Other Items

  • Scoot Fruit: sometimes found in dungeons. Eat it to warp back to the dungeon entrance.
