Here is every item and piece of equipment Link can find in The Minish Cap, where to get it, and what it does. Most of the main items come from the game's six dungeons; the rest come from shops, side quests and Kinstone fusions.
Swords
- Smith's Sword: made by Link's grandfather, Smith, at the very start of the game. It's your weapon for the first part of the adventure.
- Picori Blade: the legendary blade that Vaati shatters at the Picori Festival. The king gives you the broken pieces, and restoring it is the goal of the whole quest.
- White Sword: after you clear the Cave of Flames, Melari, the Minish blacksmith in the mines on Mt. Crenel, repairs the broken blade. Take it to the Elemental Sanctuary in Hyrule Castle to infuse it with the Elements you've collected. Each infusion powers it up and lets Link split into more copies of himself by standing on the special glowing tiles.
- Four Sword: once all four Elements (Earth, Fire, Water and Wind) are infused, the White Sword becomes the Four Sword, which lets you split into four Links.
Shields
- Small Shield: Princess Zelda gives it to you at the Picori Festival. It blocks attacks and can bounce some projectiles back.
- Mirror Shield: fuse Kinstones with all of the Gorons to wake Biggoron at the top of Veil Falls. He'll eat your Small Shield, and later give you the Mirror Shield in return. It reflects projectiles and beams.
Dungeon Items
- Gust Jar (Deepwood Shrine, after the Madderpillar fight): sucks in air to pull in enemies, clear away dust and cobwebs, and grab distant objects. Anything it catches can be fired back out as a projectile.
- Cane of Pacci (Cave of Flames): fires a beam that flips objects and enemies upside down. Fire it into a hole to make it launch you into the air.
- Mole Mitts (Fortress of Winds): let you dig through soft earth walls and dig up buried items.
- Ocarina of Wind (Fortress of Winds, after Mazaal): play it to call Zeffa the bird, who flies you to any Wind Crest you've activated.
- Flame Lantern (Temple of Droplets, after the Big Blue Chuchu): lights dark rooms, torches and enemies on fire, and melts ice.
- Roc's Cape (Palace of Winds): press it once to jump, and again in mid-air to glide across gaps.
Other Equipment
- Bombs: Belari, the Minish inventor who lives near Minish Village, gives you the Bomb Bag after the Deepwood Shrine.
- Remote Bombs: after the Temple of Droplets, fuse Kinstones with Gentari, the elder of Minish Village, then visit Belari again. He upgrades your bombs so you can detonate them whenever you like by pressing the item button a second time. Belari can switch you back to normal bombs if you prefer.
- Boomerang: for sale at Stockwell's shop in Hyrule Town for 300 Rupees. It stuns enemies and fetches items.
- Magical Boomerang: fuse Kinstones with the four Tingle brothers (Tingle in South Hyrule Field, Ankle on a ledge at Lon Lon Ranch, David Jr. near Stockwell's House at Lake Hylia, and Knuckle in a cave in Trilby Highlands). Each fusion opens a tree in North Hyrule Field with a switch inside. Flip all four switches and a ladder leads to the chest. While it's flying you can steer it with the Control Pad, and it travels faster and farther than the normal Boomerang.
- Pegasus Boots: buy a Wake-Up Mushroom from Syrup the witch for 60 Rupees and use it to wake Rem, the shoemaker in Hyrule Town. He thanks you with the Pegasus Boots, which let you dash and break through some obstacles.
- Bow and Arrows: in a large chest in a cave in the Castor Wilds. It comes with 30 arrows.
- Light Arrows: fuse Kinstones with the stranger south of the Post Office in Hyrule Town to open a warp near Link's house. Take it to a bedridden man named Gregal, who is haunted by a ghost. Use the Gust Jar to suck up the ghost, then come back once Gregal is back on his feet and he'll give you the Light Arrows. If you don't clear the ghost in time, Gregal passes away and you lose the chance to get them.
- Empty Bottles: there are four. See the Bottle Locations page.
Permanent Items
- Jabber Nut: found in Minish Village. Eating it lets you understand the Minish language.
- Kinstone Bag: holds your Kinstone pieces so you can fuse them with people across Hyrule.
- Grip Ring: sold by a Business Scrub on Mt. Crenel (bomb the cracked wall to reach him). It lets you climb the rough rock walls on the mountain, and you need it to progress.
- Power Bracelets: at Minish size, follow the hidden route behind the fountain in Hyrule Town and defeat the four blue Mulldozers inside the cave to earn a chest. They let you push and pull heavy objects.
- Flippers: return all the overdue books to the Hyrule Town library. Librari, the Minish who lives there, then opens a trapdoor to his trial room, where the Flippers are the prize. They let you swim.
Capacity Upgrades
Your wallet, bomb bag and quiver can each be upgraded three times. Each upgrade simply raises the item to the next size, so it doesn't matter which order you find them in.
- Wallet: 100 → 300 → 500 → 999 Rupees. One upgrade is sold at Stockwell's shop for 80 Rupees. Another comes from the Great Fairy you reach by firing the Cane of Pacci into a hole: throw all your Rupees into her fountain. The last comes from a chest in the meadow at Lon Lon Ranch, which opens through a chain of Kinstone fusions.
- Bomb Bag: 10 → 30 → 50 → 99 bombs. One upgrade is sold at Stockwell's shop for 600 Rupees, one comes from the Great Fairy on Mt. Crenel (throw a bomb in and answer "Neither" when she asks if you dropped something), and one comes from a Kinstone fusion.
- Quiver: 30 → 50 → 70 → 99 arrows. One upgrade is sold at Stockwell's shop for 600 Rupees, one is at the top of a beanstalk in the Wind Ruins that grows after a Kinstone fusion, and one comes from the Great Fairy in the Royal Valley. Her answers are No, No, Yes, No, No.
