Bosses

How to beat the main bosses of Tears of the Kingdom. Each temple boss leaves a Heart Container. The overworld bosses (Gleeoks, Frox, Flux Constructs, Hinox, Talus and Molduga) are marked on our interactive map; turn on their layers to find them.

Colgera (Wind Temple)

The whole fight takes place in midair. Colgera's body is covered in rock with glowing ice cores. Glide above it, avoid the rocks it sheds, then close your paraglider and drop through a core to shatter it. Use Tulin's gust to break through the walls of tornadoes it summons. Break all the cores to win.

Marbled Gohma (Fire Temple)

Launch Yunobo at Gohma's legs to break them, and get away from the explosive boulders it drops. When it collapses, climb up and attack its eye. At half health it climbs onto the ceiling. Send Yunobo rolling up the wall to knock it off a leg, then attack it while it's down.

Mucktorok (Water Temple)

Mucktorok hides inside the sludge. Wash it out with Sidon's water or a Splash Fruit, then attack it before it escapes; an arrow can knock it down as it flees. At half health it floods the arena with sludge puddles that slow you down. Wash them away and shoot it in slow motion as it jumps between them.

Queen Gibdo (Lightning Temple)

Shoot an arrow to set Riju's lightning circle, then strike Queen Gibdo with lightning while she's inside it. The second hit stuns her, so you can move in with your weapons. Her whirlwinds cancel Riju's circle, so wait and set it again. At half health she calls in Gibdos from hives around the room; destroy the hives with lightning when their cores glow.

Seized Construct (Spirit Temple)

You fight while riding Mineru's Construct, inside a ring of electrified wire. Fit useful devices to the Construct beforehand. Your normal attacks do little damage; instead, knock the Seized Construct into the wire, and block its punches. At half health it grows two more arms and starts flying, using fans, shock emitters and cannons.

Phantom Ganon (Hyrule Castle)

Phantom Ganon attacks with a group of copies. Stun and defeat the one creating a puddle of Gloom. As the fight goes on, the copies regroup and switch weapons, first to Gloom clubs and then to Gloom spears. They drop the Gloom Sword and the Demon King's Bow.

Demon King Ganondorf

Prepare meals of Sundelions to restore the hearts Gloom takes from you. In the first phase, Ganondorf fights with a sword, spear and club. Keep your shield up and dodge at the last moment to trigger Flurry Rushes. In the second phase he summons Phantom Ganons, and your Sages arrive to help. In the third, he fights alone, firing rings of Gloom orbs; move through the gaps between them.

The Demon Dragon

Your hearts are restored, and the Light Dragon carries you into the sky. Dive onto the Demon Dragon's back and destroy its glowing eyes with the Master Sword, the only weapon that can hurt it. Don't stay on its back, which drains your hearts. When all the eyes are gone, strike the glowing stone on its forehead.

Overworld Bosses

  • Gleeoks: flying dragons with one head (Flame, Frost or Thunder) or three heads (King Gleeok). Shoot the heads' eyes with arrows to knock them out of the sky, then climb onto the body and attack.
  • Frox: giant creatures in the Depths, covered in ore. Shoot their eye to stun them, climb up and mine the ore on their backs.
  • Flux Constructs: made of Zonai blocks, on the sky islands and in the Depths. Use Ultrahand to grab and pull out their glowing core block.
  • Hinox, Talus and Molduga return from Breath of the Wild, with new Battle Talus carrying a camp on their backs.
