This walkthrough takes you through Twilight Princess from Link's last days in Ordon Village to the final battle with Ganondorf. It sticks to the main path but points out the Pieces of Heart, Poe Souls and Hidden Skills you pass along the way. For complete lists, see the Heart Pieces, Poe Souls, Hidden Skills, Golden Bugs, Bottle Locations and Items pages.
A note on versions: the Wii version (and Hero Mode in the Wii U HD version) is a mirror image of the GameCube and Wii U versions, so this walkthrough describes the way by landmarks rather than by left/right or east/west wherever it can. North and south are the same in every version.
A few basics before you start:
- Wolf senses: as Wolf Link, use your senses to see spirits, ghosts, buried objects and scent trails. Glittering patches of earth are dig spots.
- Midna: as a wolf, Midna rides on your back. When she glows over a spot, she can carry you through a series of long jumps. She can also give you hints at any time.
- Howling Stones: howl their tune back to them as a wolf to call a golden wolf, who teaches you a Hidden Skill as Link.
- Ooccoo: in most dungeons, Ooccoo hides in a pot. Take her along and she can warp you out of the dungeon and back to where you left.
1. Ordon Village
- Day 1: after the opening scene with Rusl, talk to Fado at the ranch. Epona is missing. Head into the woods to Ordon Spring, where Ilia is washing her, then ride Epona back.
- At Ordon Ranch, Fado asks you to herd the goats into the barn. Ride around behind them and whoop to drive them in. Afterwards, practice jumping the fences with Epona.
- Day 2: talk to the village kids, Talo, Beth, Malo and Colin. Sera's cat hasn't come home, so her shop is closed until it does.
- Uli, Rusl's wife, has lost her cradle to a monkey. Climb up to the Hawk Grass on the rock pillars near Jaggle, blow it to call Hanch's hawk, and aim the hawk at the monkey to bring the cradle back. Uli gives you the Fishing Rod.
- Fish from the shore near the watermill. When the cat takes your catch (the second fish on GameCube and Wii, the first in HD), it runs home and Sera's shop reopens. Sera gives you a bottle with some milk in it.
- Collect Rupees by cutting grass and lifting pumpkins and rocks, then buy the Slingshot from Sera's Sundries for 30 Rupees. Show the kids your aim by hitting the targets.
- At Link's tree house, shoot the spider crawling on the ladder with the Slingshot, then climb up. The chest inside holds the Wooden Sword. Practice your sword moves with Malo and Beth.
- The monkey runs off into Faron Woods and Talo chases it across the bridge. Call Epona, jump the fence at the edge of the village and follow him.
2. Faron Woods: Talo and the Monkey
- In the woods, Coro (the man camping by the fire) gives you the Lantern. Light the pot next to him to try it out, and put it away when you don't need it to save oil.
- Past Coro, go through the cave, burning the cobweb and lighting the torches with the Lantern.
- In the clearing beyond, a cave with Keese and a Bokoblin holds a Small Key. Lighting the torches beside the chest makes a bigger chest appear with a Piece of Heart.
- Open the locked gate with the key. Trill's shop beyond sells Red Potions and Lantern oil.
- Further north, Talo and the monkey are locked in a cage guarded by Bokoblins. Beat them and cut the cage open to free them both.
3. Captured
- Day 3: Fado asks you to herd 20 goats this time. Afterwards, Ilia finds Epona hurt from the fence jumping and takes her to Ordon Spring. Talo asks to borrow your Wooden Sword; lend it to him.
- Follow Ilia to the spring by climbing through the tunnel beside the rock wall. Bulblins on boars attack, kidnap the children and Ilia, and knock you out.
- A dark wall of Twilight swallows Link. Inside, he turns into a wolf and is dragged away to a prison cell in Hyrule Castle.
- Break the crates in your cell, then dig under the bars where the frame is damaged. Midna appears and breaks your chain.
- Follow Midna through the sewers. Use your senses to see the trapped spirits. Pull the chains to raise or lower the water so you can swim over the spikes.
- Climb the spiral staircase with Midna's jumps, beat the Shadow Keese, and cross the rooftops to the tower with the small door. Climb to the top room, where you meet Princess Zelda. She explains that Zant has taken Hyrule and covered it in Twilight.
- Midna then sends you back to Ordon Spring.
4. The Ordon Sword and Shield
- Midna tells you to find a sword and a shield. Head back into the village. As a wolf you can talk to animals, and a squirrel gives you hints.
- Shield: the Ordon Shield is in the house by the watermill. Stay away from the hawk. Midna can jump you onto the roof; go in through the open window. Jump onto the table and dash into the wall until the shield falls, then leave the way you came.
- Sword: at Rusl's house, dig at the glittering spot next to the house to tunnel inside. The Ordon Sword is on the sofa.
- Return to Ordon Spring. A Shadow Beast drops through a portal. Bite it repeatedly until it falls. The spirit Ordona explains that the other Light Spirits' springs have fallen into Twilight.
- Cross the bridge from the spring and walk through the wall of Twilight into Faron Woods.
5. Faron Woods Twilight
- Three Shadow Beasts attack. Hold the button to make Midna draw a dark circle around you. Bring the beasts into the circle and release to hit them all at once. They must die together, or the last one revives the others.
- At the spring, the Light Spirit Faron gives you the Vessel of Light. Fill it by killing the Twilight insects and collecting their Tears of Light. There are 16 in the GameCube and Wii versions; the Wii U version needs fewer. Use your senses to see the insects; they also show up on your map.
- The insects are scattered through the woods: along the paths, around Coro's house (jump in through the window with Midna's help), on the cave walls (charge the wall to knock them down), in the poisonous fog (Midna's jumps take you through), buried underground (dig them up) and near the cage where you rescued Talo.
- When the Vessel is full, Faron restores your human body and gives you the green Hero's Clothes. Faron tells you that a power lies hidden in the temple deep in the woods.
6. To the Forest Temple
- Talk to Coro. He gives you a Small Key for the gate in the tunnel, and sells you a bottle of Lantern oil for 100 Rupees.
- Unlock the gate. In the poisonous fog, a monkey steals your Lantern and leads you through. Stay close to her and fight off the enemies that attack her.
- The fog empties your Lantern. Refill it at Trill's shop (20 Rupees in the box).
- Near the temple, the golden wolf (the Hero's Shade) teaches you the Ending Blow, the first Hidden Skill.
- Burn the cobweb over the Forest Temple entrance with your Lantern and go in.
7. Forest Temple
The goal here is to free the eight monkeys trapped around the temple. They form the bridges you need to reach the boss.
- Entrance: beat the Keese, Deku Babas and Bokoblin, then break the cage to free the first monkey. Shoot the spiders on the vines with the Slingshot and climb up to the door. A chest on the vines holds 10 Rupees.
- The big hall: a big armored spider comes down the slope. Hit its face when it rears up, or use the Ending Blow when it falls over. Light the four torches around the central platform to raise the stairs. The Dungeon Map is in a chest by the north door.
- Bridges and keys: the freed monkeys hang from branches to form swinging bridges; jump to them and let go to swing across. Throw Bomblings at the cracked boulders. Ooccoo is hiding in one of the pots near a boulder.
- Pick up a Small Key from the chest across the next bridge. To free a caged monkey, roll into the pole holding its cage three times. Rolling into another pole knocks down a chest with another Small Key.
- In the room with the Big Baba, beat it and blow up the plant growth to find another Small Key and the next monkey.
- Piece of Heart 1: in the tall room with the stairs, drop a Bombling onto the big plant below, then go down to open the chest.
- Ook (mini-boss): a big baboon throws a boomerang from atop a pole. Kill the Baba Serpents first. When Ook is on a pole, roll into its base to knock him down, then hit him while he's on the ground. Repeat until he flees. Ook drops the Gale Boomerang.
- Throw the Gale Boomerang at the spinning fan above the door to open it. Throughout the rest of the temple, you'll use the boomerang to spin fans that turn bridges, blow out torches, cut cobwebs, and grab Small Keys, chests and monkeys from places you can't reach.
- Piece of Heart 2: in one of the side rooms, blow out the torches with the Gale Boomerang to lower the stairs and reveal a chest.
- Compass: look for a chest hanging from the ceiling by a thread, and cut it down with the Gale Boomerang.
- Big Key: in the big water room, four fans stand on pillars. Lock onto all four with the Gale Boomerang in a Z shape (both fans in the far row, then both in the near row), so it hits them all in one throw. The gate opens; swim and climb to the chest with the Big Key.
- Free the remaining monkeys. One is behind a boulder you have to bomb, one is behind a locked door, and the last is down a web-covered hole at the north end; burn the web, drop down and cut the cage open.
- With all eight monkeys free, they form a bridge to the boss door. Open it with the Big Key.
Boss: Diababa. First, two smaller plant heads attack. Lock onto a Bombling, then onto a head, and throw. When the head swallows the bomb, it explodes and the head drops. Repeat for the second head. Then the main head appears, and Ook swings in holding a Bomb. Lock onto the bomb with the Gale Boomerang and then onto the head, so the boomerang carries the bomb into its mouth. When the head drops, slash its eye until it recovers, and stay out of the purple poison. Repeat until Diababa dies. Take the Heart Container. The boss leaves behind the first Fused Shadow.
8. Eldin Twilight
- Leave Faron Woods and head into Hyrule Field toward the wall of Twilight. Before you step in, examine the old Wooden Sword to pick up the Youths' Scent, then follow it.
- In the gorge, three Shadow Beasts attack. Kill the one that's apart from the others first, then catch the last two in Midna's circle.
- The bridge over the gorge is missing. Warp to North Faron Woods, where the bridge piece has ended up, and have Midna warp it back.
- Dig under the fence to get into Kakariko Village, then kill the Shadow Beasts there. The Light Spirit Eldin gives you the Vessel of Light for this province.
- The Tears of Light in Kakariko (16 in the GameCube and Wii versions, fewer in the Wii U version) are hidden:
- three in the cellar of the sanctuary (light the candles to open it);
- one buried in the graveyard;
- several inside the village houses: some dug out of the floor, some knocked from behind furniture, some hiding in the inn's fireplace and upstairs;
- three in a house that explodes when you light its fireplace (get out fast, then collect the tears from the wreckage);
- one near the Howling Stone on the trail to Death Mountain;
- two on Death Mountain itself, one on the rock wall and one among the Shadow Vermin in the hot spring.
- Kill the Shadow Beasts on the mountain to fill the Vessel. Eldin restores the province. Renado, the village shaman, tells you that the Gorons have shut off Death Mountain.
- Howl at the Howling Stone on the Death Mountain trail. Once you're human, the golden wolf will teach you the Shield Attack.
9. Death Mountain and the Iron Boots
- Try to climb Death Mountain. A Goron rolls into you and knocks you back down. Renado suggests asking Mayor Bo in Ordon, the only man who has ever beaten a Goron at sumo.
- On your way out of Kakariko, Epona appears running wild. Climb on and follow the on-screen prompts to calm her down. Then ride back to Ordon.
- At Mayor Bo's house, wrestle him at sumo. Beat him and he gives you the Iron Boots.
- Return to Death Mountain. When a Goron rolls at you, put on the Iron Boots so it can't move you, then grab it and throw it aside. Gorons that curl up into balls can launch you up to higher ledges. Wear the Iron Boots to walk past the steam vents.
- A huge burning boulder falls onto the trail. Remember it; you'll need it later.
- At the top, wrestle Gor Coron, the Goron elder. Put on the Iron Boots first, then push him out of the ring. He lets you into the Goron Mines. A Goron near the entrance sells supplies.
10. Goron Mines
You need the three shards of the Big Key, held by three Goron Elders inside the mines. The Iron Boots are the key to this dungeon: wear them on switches, under water and on the magnetic tracks. Fire burns a wooden shield, so be careful.
- The first rooms: cross the lava on the stepping stones. Stand on switches in the Iron Boots to shut off the fire. Sinking a rusty platform with the boots opens the gate.
- Beat the Bulblins guarding a chest to get a Small Key, then cross the rotating platform when it's level.
- Magnetic ceilings: standing on certain switches in the Iron Boots turns on a magnet that pulls you up onto the blue track on the ceiling. Walk along it with the boots on.
- Gor Amoto gives you the first Key Shard. The chest behind him holds the Dungeon Map. Ooccoo is hiding in a pot near the door.
- Use the ceiling track in the Dodongo room to reach a chest with a Piece of Heart.
- In the flooded room, sink to the bottom with the Iron Boots to find a chest with a Small Key. Push the block into place with the boots on and hit the crystal switch to open the gate.
- Past the Beamos, a chest high on the wall holds the second Piece of Heart. Cut the rope holding the gate to drop it.
- On the docks, a small chest holds another Small Key. Cross the rotating platforms by jumping on when they're level, or by standing on the magnetic square in the Iron Boots.
- Gor Ebizo gives you the second Key Shard.
- Dangoro (mini-boss): put on the Iron Boots so you don't fall off the magnetic arena. When Dangoro curls up and rolls at you, catch him with the boots on and throw him into the lava. Hit him with your sword when he's stunned. Throw him into the lava three times. The chest beyond holds the Hero's Bow.
- Shoot the rope holding up the bridge to drop it. In the Beamos room, shoot each Beamos in its eye. Pull a Beamos statue back to find the Compass, then pull another to reach the door.
- Gor Liggs gives you the third Key Shard, which completes the Big Key.
- Head back through the mines with the Bow. Shoot the Bulblin archers, Dodongos' tails and Torch Slugs, cut the ropes holding bridges, and hit the crystal switch to open the way to the boss door.
Boss: Fyrus. Shoot the glowing gem on Fyrus's forehead with an arrow to stun him. Grab one of the chains on his legs, put on the Iron Boots and pull him off his feet. Take off the boots and slash the gem. Do this three times. Take the Heart Container and the second Fused Shadow. Fyrus turns back into Darbus, the Goron Patriarch.
11. King Bulblin and Colin
- Back in Kakariko, King Bulblin's riders storm the village and carry Colin off.
- Chase them on Epona and slash King Bulblin from horseback to knock his armor off.
- He makes his last stand on the Bridge of Eldin. Ride at him and dodge to the side at the last moment, slashing as you pass. Knock him off the bridge to rescue Colin.
- The Malo Mart in Kakariko opens. It sells the Hylian Shield for 200 Rupees, which won't burn like a wooden shield. It also sells the Hawkeye, which lets you zoom in with the Bow. Talo's target game near the lookout leads to a Piece of Heart.
- Colin asks you to find Ilia. Barnes's bomb shop is open, so buy some bombs.
12. Lanayru Twilight
- Head north through Hyrule Field toward Lanayru Province. Blow up the rocks in the way with a bomb and step into the Twilight.
- Examine Ilia's bag to learn her scent, then follow it to Castle Town. Ilia is in Telma's Bar, caring for a sick Zora boy.
- Leave Castle Town and cross the Great Bridge of Hylia. Bulblins set both ends on fire. Push a crate to the edge of the bridge, climb it and jump into Lake Hylia below.
- Lake Hylia has been drained. In a cave by the lake, the Light Spirit Lanayru gives you the Vessel of Light for this province.
- The man at the lake spots an enemy. A Twilit Bulblin calls a big bird. When the bird swoops at you, jump and bite it repeatedly to knock the rider off. Midna takes control of the bird, and you fly up Zora's River dodging arrows and falling rocks.
- Zora's Domain is frozen solid. Climb up with Midna's jumps and kill the Shadow Beasts to open a portal.
- Warp to Death Mountain and warp the burning boulder you saw there back to Zora's Domain. It melts the ice and the river flows again.
- The ghost of Queen Rutela thanks you. Her son Ralis is the sick boy you saw in Castle Town.
- The Tears of Light (16 in the GameCube and Wii versions, fewer in the Wii U version) are spread across Lake Hylia, Zora's River (four along the bird flight, and one near the house at the top of the river), Zora's Domain and Castle Town. The last one is held by a Twilit Bloat over Lake Hylia; bite it and catch its legs in Midna's circle.
- Lanayru shows Midna a vision of the Fused Shadows' history and where the last one is.
13. Escorting Prince Ralis
- Back at Telma's Bar, Telma and Ilia decide to take Ralis to Renado in Kakariko. Agree to guard their wagon.
- King Bulblin is waiting at the Great Bridge of Hylia. Ride at him and shoot him with the Bow, then dodge. Beat him and he drops the Gate Keys.
- Ride alongside the wagon through Hyrule Field. Shoot or slash the Bulblins and Kargaroks that attack it, and put out any fire on the wagon by throwing the Gale Boomerang at it. If the wagon burns for too long, you'll have to start over.
- Unlock the gates on the way to Kakariko. In the village, Renado treats Ralis.
- Queen Rutela's spirit leads you into Kakariko Graveyard, and down through the water to her grave. She gives you the Zora Armor, which lets you breathe under water.
- At Barnes's shop, sell back your regular Bombs (you can't carry two kinds in one bag) and buy Water Bombs, which work under water.
14. Lakebed Temple
Wear the Zora Armor and Iron Boots to walk on the bottom of Lake Hylia. The temple entrance is blocked by a boulder. Drop a Water Bomb by the vent beneath it, then drop another into the opened vent so it floats up and destroys the boulder. A Zora nearby sells more Water Bombs.
- Inside, chests near the entrance hold arrows and Water Bombs. Grab the switch hanging from the ceiling to open the way.
- The temple is built around a huge central room with rotating staircases. Grab the handles in the walls to turn the stairs and send water down different channels. The temple's puzzles are about sending water to the east and west wings to turn their water wheels.
- Use Bomb Arrows (combine bombs with the Bow) to bring down stalactites, then climb on them to reach high doorways. You'll find the Dungeon Map and several Small Keys in chests along the way.
- Deku Toad (mini-boss): watch its shadow and get out from under it when it drops. Kill the Toadpoli it spits out, and toss bombs or Bomb Arrows into its mouth to stun it, then slash it. It drops the Clawshot.
- With the Clawshot, fire at the red-and-gold targets and vines to pull yourself across gaps. A chandelier hanging in one room leads to a Piece of Heart.
- The Compass is in a chest you reach with the Clawshot.
- Restart the water wheels in both wings. In the room with the moving platforms, Clawshot the switch on the ceiling to drop down to the chest with the Big Key.
- Break the pots around the temple for a fairy to bottle before the boss. If you're knocked out underwater, a fairy will save you.
Boss: Morpheel. Sink to the bottom with the Iron Boots. Lock onto the eye moving inside Morpheel's tentacles and pull it out with the Clawshot, then slash it. Watch out for the tentacles and the Bombfish. After a few hits, Morpheel rises from the sand as a giant eel. Swim alongside it; when you see the eye behind its head, Clawshot to it and slash it. Hit the eye three times. If it swallows you, put on the Iron Boots to sink back out. Take the Heart Container and the last Fused Shadow.
15. The Master Sword
- Leaving the Lakebed Temple, Zant ambushes you, takes the Fused Shadows, turns Link back into a wolf and leaves Midna badly hurt. Carry her to Castle Town to find Princess Zelda.
- At Telma's Bar, Louise the cat helps you sneak inside. Make your way through the back of the bar, along the tightropes over the rooftops and through the sewers, digging and using Midna's jumps. Near the end, wait for the wind to lift the broken bridge, then jump across to the blue-roofed tower where Zelda is held.
- Zelda uses her power to save Midna, and sends you to find the sword that can break Zant's curse.
- Warp to North Faron Woods. Save the monkey from the Puppets and follow it. Use Midna's jumps and wait for the wind to swing the bridges into place.
- At the Sacred Grove, howl at the Howling Stone. Skull Kid appears, with Puppets. Chase him through the grove; each time you catch him, hit him and he summons more Puppets and runs. After three hits the way opens.
- In the ruined temple courtyard, two guardian statues come to life and move every time you do. Move around until both statues stand on the glowing marks they came from; the stairs then open behind them.
- At the top, Link pulls the Master Sword from its pedestal. It breaks Zant's curse and turns Link human again. Midna also gives you the Shadow Crystal, so you can now change between wolf and human at will.
16. To the Gerudo Desert
- Read Telma's letter, then visit her bar. Her friends are searching for the Mirror of Twilight; one of them, Auru, is at Lake Hylia.
- At Lake Hylia, climb the ladder on the south cliffs and walk to the stone watchtower. Auru gives you Auru's Memo. Show it to Fyer and he'll fire you from his cannon to the Gerudo Desert for free.
- In the desert, use the Clawshot on the Peahats to cross the chasms. On the mesa, kill the Shadow Beasts, then have Midna warp the missing piece of the Bridge of Eldin back home. That opens the stairs to the Cave of Ordeals.
- Get past the Bulblins and their boars to the Bulblin Camp. Beat the Bulblins to get the key to the locked gate. One of them is carrying it.
- King Bulblin challenges you on foot at the gates. Block his axe and use Back Slice and Jump Attacks on him. After he's beaten, the camp catches fire. Climb onto a boar and dash through the wooden gates to Arbiter's Grounds.
17. Arbiter's Grounds
Four Poes have stolen the flames from this prison's torches. Catch all four to open the way down.
- Clawshot to the target near the entrance and jump across the blocks. Get past the Stalkin and pull the handle to open the door. The first room has a chest with a Small Key.
- In the main hall, light the torches with the Lantern. Four Poes appear and steal the flames. Turn into a wolf and use your senses to see them.
- Poe 1 is in this hall. After you beat it, you can track the Poe Scent. Dig up the sand square to find a chain; pulling it opens the stairs down.
- The Dungeon Map and a Piece of Heart are in this first area. Use the Clawshot targets to reach the Piece of Heart.
- Downstairs, turn the pillar to raise the floor. A chest behind the ReDead holds a Small Key. Find Poe 2 in the main room below.
- Upstairs, the Compass is in a chest. Fight the ReDeads and Stalkin for more Small Keys. One Small Key and Poe 3 are behind a wall that you get past by digging as a wolf.
- Push the cage block and pull the chandeliers down to make a path across the room. Bomb the Stalfos to destroy them for good.
- Poe 4 splits into several copies. Watch for the real one, which flashes, and attack it. With all four Poes gone, the flames return and the doors open.
- Further down, turn the levers in the spike room. Ooccoo is in a pot nearby.
- Death Sword (mini-boss): cut the ropes holding the giant sword to wake it. It's invisible to Link, so turn into a wolf and use your senses to bite it. When it becomes visible, hit it with an arrow to stun it, then slash. It drops the Spinner.
- Ride the Spinner along the grooves in the walls. A chest beside the spiral groove, guarded by a Stalfos, holds the second Piece of Heart. The Big Key is in a chest at the end of the Spinner area.
- Spin the Spinner in the center mechanism to raise a new groove that leads up to the boss door.
Boss: Stallord. The giant skeleton is buried in the sand. Ride the Spinner around the arena and ram its spine three times while it summons Stalkin. Then spin the Spinner in the center of the arena to raise a column. Ride the groove up the column, dodging fireballs by jumping between the grooves, and ram Stallord's skull to knock it down. Slash it while it's down. Repeat until it shatters. Take the Heart Container.
In the Mirror Chamber, kill the Shadow Beasts, ride the Spinner up the statue and spin it to raise the Mirror of Twilight. Zant has shattered the mirror, and three shards are missing.
18. Snowpeak
- At Zora's Domain, follow the passage that leads toward Snowpeak. Ashei, one of Telma's friends, gives you Ashei's Sketch of the creature she saw on the mountain.
- Prince Ralis is now at his mother's grave, behind Kakariko Graveyard. Show him the sketch, and he gives you his Coral Earring.
- Use the Coral Earring as fishing bait in Zora's Domain, near the two rocks in the water, and catch a Reekfish. As a wolf, you now know the Reekfish Scent.
- Follow the scent up Snowpeak. Dig through the snow and fight off the White Wolfos. Howl at the Howling Stone on the way (the next Hidden Skill is the Jump Strike).
- Near the top, kill the Shadow Beasts to open a warp portal. Then talk to Yeto, the yeti. He's taking a Reekfish home to his sick wife and says she found a strange mirror.
- Follow him down the mountain by snowboarding on a leaf of ice. You'll land at Snowpeak Ruins.
19. Snowpeak Ruins
There are no hearts to pick up in this mansion. Yeto's soup is your healing: scoop it into an empty bottle in the kitchen. Each ingredient you find makes it stronger.
- A Poe floats over the ice in the entrance hall. In the next room, Yeta gives you a map of the mansion (the Dungeon Map) with the room where she saw the mirror marked.
- In the kitchen, fill a bottle with Yeto's Simple Soup. Ooccoo is in a pot in the kitchen.
- In the icy storeroom, slide the blocks across the ice until one lands on the switch, which opens the door.
- Dig through the wall as a wolf to reach the courtyard. A buried chest there holds a Small Key.
- Break through the Mini Freezards and Chilfos (two Bomb Arrows take one down quickly). A chest marked with Yeta's sign holds the Ordon Pumpkin. Give it to Yeto, and his soup becomes Good Soup.
- In the armory, load a cannonball into the cannon and light it with a bomb to blast the ice in the way.
- The Compass is in the dilapidated drawing room. Use the Clawshot to knock the Mini Freezards off the beams as you cross.
- Dig up another Small Key in the courtyard and fire the cannon again to reach the cell.
- Darkhammer (mini-boss): dodge his ball and chain and get behind him to hit his tail. If his ball gets stuck in the ground, run behind him and attack. He drops the Ball and Chain.
- The Ball and Chain smashes ice walls, Freezards and suits of armor. Break the ice in the jailer's room to find Ordon Goat Cheese. Give it to Yeto, and his soup becomes Superb Soup.
- Smash through the ice to reach the room with the bottomless pit. A chest down there holds a Piece of Heart. Climb back out with the Clawshot. A second Piece of Heart is up by the chandeliers, which you swing on by hitting them with the Ball and Chain.
- Use the Ball and Chain to clear the ice from the switch in the storeroom and solve the second block puzzle.
- Destroy the Chilfos in the chapel. The chest there holds the Bedroom Key. Take it to Yeta's bedroom upstairs.
Boss: Blizzeta. Yeta touches the mirror shard and turns into a spinning block of ice. Hit her with the Ball and Chain to break chunks off. Then she floats overhead and drops ice blocks. Dodge them, smash a way through and hit her with the Ball and Chain. Take the Heart Container and the second Mirror Shard.
20. Return to the Sacred Grove
- Talk to Telma. Rusl has gone to the Sacred Grove. Warp to North Faron Woods to meet him. He gives you the Golden Cucco; glide across the gap with it.
- Use the Gale Boomerang to turn the bridge.
- Skull Kid is back. Shoot him with arrows. He sends Puppets after you each time. After three hits the way opens.
- Back at the Master Sword's pedestal, place the sword in it. Kill the Shadow Beasts that appear. When you leave, the grove changes to the past, and the Temple of Time stands where the ruins were.
21. Temple of Time
- A statue is missing from the entrance hall. Your wolf senses show its outline. You'll bring it back later.
- Put a pot on the floor switch to raise a step. Light the two torches with the Lantern to make a chest appear with a Small Key. Ooccoo joins you here.
- Put pots and the horned statuettes on the floor switches to open the gates. Fight the Young Gohma, Lizalfos and Armos. The Dungeon Map, the Compass and several Small Keys are in chests along the way, and two Poes haunt the temple.
- Darknut (mini-boss): watch for his swing, back away, and hit him from the side or behind. His armor comes off piece by piece. Without armor he moves faster and can throw his sword. The Mortal Draw and Helm Splitter work well on him. He drops the Dominion Rod.
- The Dominion Rod brings statues to life. Point it at a statue, and it follows your moves. A statue can press floor switches, and its hammer smashes gates, walls and spiked blocks. Be careful not to stand where it swings.
- Take the big statue all the way back down to the entrance hall and place it in the empty spot.
- In the Helmasaur room, Clawshot the shells off the Helmasaurs and put them on the floor switches to open the gate to the Big Key.
- The temple has two Pieces of Heart. Both are in chests that open after you use the statues on switches.
Boss: Armogohma. The giant spider crawls across the ceiling. Shoot its eye with an arrow when it opens it to make it fall. Then use the Dominion Rod on one of the statues at the edges of the room to smash it with the statue's hammer. Repeat until it loses its armor. Then shoot or slash the small eye that's left. Take the Heart Container and the third Mirror Shard.
22. Ilia's Memory and the Sky Book
- Back in the present, the Dominion Rod has lost its power. In Kakariko, Renado gives you a letter for Telma. Telma gives you an Invoice for the doctor in Castle Town.
- Show the doctor the Invoice. He says someone stole Ilia's wooden statue. Push the block in his back room, then sniff the Medicine Scent as a wolf. Louise the cat says dog-like monsters took it.
- At night, go out the south gate of Castle Town and beat the Stalhounds. The Wooden Statue drops.
- Show the statue to Ilia in Kakariko. It reminds her of something, and you learn of a hidden village north of the Bridge of Eldin. Darbus clears the rockfall blocking the way.
- In the Hidden Village, Bulblins with bows wait in ambush on the rooftops. Use the Hawkeye and the explosive barrels to beat all 20 of them. Impaz, the village's old woman, then comes out and gives you Ilia's Charm. Howl at the Howling Stone here (the last Hidden Skill is the Great Spin).
- When Ilia sees the charm, her memory comes back, and she gives you the Horse Call, which summons Epona from almost anywhere.
- Show the Dominion Rod to Impaz. She gives you the Ancient Sky Book. Take it to Shad, the scholar studying the Oocca in Renado's basement. He restores the Rod's power and tells you about six Owl Statues around Hyrule, each hiding a missing character for the book.
- Use the Dominion Rod on all six Owl Statues: near Kakariko Gorge, in the ruins near Castle Town, at the end of the Bridge of Eldin, near the Great Bridge of Hylia, in Faron Woods and in the Gerudo Desert. Each one unlocks a character for the book.
- Show the completed book to Shad. A statue in the cave under Renado's basement moves aside, revealing the Sky Cannon. Warp it to Lake Hylia. Pay Fyer to repair it, then Clawshot into it to fly up to the City in the Sky.
23. City in the Sky
- Under the water at the entrance, two chests hold Rupees and Water Bombs. Buy something at the Oocca shop to find Ooccoo.
- Hit the crystal switch above the door to open the gate.
- Inside, find the Dungeon Map. Clawshot to the ceiling target and drop down to the chest with the Small Key.
- Aeralfos (mini-boss): the flying lizard fights from the air. Pull it down by its shield with the Clawshot, then attack it. It drops the Double Clawshots.
- With the Double Clawshots, swing between targets and the Peahats to cross the gaps. The Compass is at the far end of the room with the hanging pillars. Two Pieces of Heart and two Poes are in the city.
- Big Key: in the fan room, Clawshot to the hanging ball and drop with the Iron Boots on to stop the fan. Beat the Helmasaurs to reach the Big Key.
Boss: Argorok. Use the Double Clawshots and the Peahats to get around the arena. When the dragon flies near, Clawshot onto its tail, put on the Iron Boots and drag it to the ground. Its armor breaks. Then use the Peahats to get above and behind it, drop onto its back and slash the glowing spot. Later it breathes fire in another direction, so change your route between the Peahats. Take the Heart Container and the last Mirror Shard.
24. Palace of Twilight
- Use the Sky Cannon to return to Lake Hylia, then warp to the Mirror Chamber. The mirror is whole again, and Midna tells you about the Twili and Zant. Go through to the Twilight Realm.
- The palace's black fog turns Link into a wolf. You need to take the two Sols, balls of light, out of the palace wings.
- In each wing, deflect the Zant Masks' shots with your shield and use the Clawshot targets on the walls to climb. You'll find the Dungeon Map, the Compass and the Small Keys in chests.
- Twice, a phantom Zant attacks. Hit it each time it appears until it fades away.
- A Sol is held by a giant hand, Zant's Hand. Hit the hand, pick up the Sol and carry it back. The hand chases you. Hit it again or use the Clawshot to grab the Sol if the hand takes it.
- Place each Sol in its slot in the central plaza. The Sols power up the Master Sword with light. Now it can cut through the fog, and you can stay human in it.
- Use the Clawshot targets in the central wing to reach the Big Key. The palace also has two Pieces of Heart.
Boss: Zant. Zant fights in six rounds, each in a copy of an earlier boss arena:
- Forest Temple: hit him with the Gale Boomerang and slash.
- Goron Mines: put on the Iron Boots so his attacks can't blow you away, then slash him when he runs out of breath.
- Lakebed Temple: wear the Zora Armor and Iron Boots, pull him to you with the Clawshot and slash.
- Forest Temple (Ook's arena): roll into the poles to knock him down, then slash.
- Snowpeak Ruins: when Zant grows huge, hit his foot with the Ball and Chain to shrink him, then attack.
- A final sword fight: block his spinning attack and slash him when he stops.
Take the Heart Container. Midna takes back the Fused Shadows, and the way home opens.
25. Hyrule Castle
- From Castle Town's central square, go north to the castle. Midna uses the Fused Shadows to break the barrier around it.
- In the grounds, fight the Bulblins and ride a boar to knock down their watchtowers. Throw the Gale Boomerang at the fans to open the gate to the Dungeon Map.
- As a wolf, dig down to the graveyard. Bomb your way through and push the Owl Statues into place with the Dominion Rod to climb up and pull the chain for a Small Key.
- In the other half of the grounds, King Bulblin fights you one last time. Beat him and he gives you a Small Key.
- Inside the castle, Clawshot along the chandeliers to find the Compass, and get past the Darknuts. Light the torches in the right order to open the barred door.
- Out on the battlements, pull the Aeralfos down with the Clawshot. A chest in one of the towers holds a Small Key. Find the Big Key past the battlements.
- The stairs to the top have collapsed. Jump the small gaps, use the Double Clawshots on the bigger one and ride the Spinner up the last flight. A Darknut waits at the top.
- An optional locked room holds a treasure room with 13 chests of Rupees, arrows, bombs and seeds.
- Open the boss door with the Big Key.
26. The Final Battles
- Puppet Zelda: Ganondorf possesses Zelda. Stay out of her magic triangle, and block her when she rushes you. Hit back her ball of light with the Master Sword. The rally gets faster each time; keep hitting it back until it hits her. Do this three times.
- Dark Beast Ganon: Ganondorf becomes a huge beast. Shoot the scar on his forehead when he charges, then slash the scar on his belly when he falls. Watch for the portal he'll come through next.
- Next, turn into a wolf. When Ganon charges, grab his jaws when prompted and throw him over, then bite his belly scar. Repeat until he falls.
- Ganondorf on horseback: Zelda rides with you on Epona and shoots Light Arrows. Ride alongside Ganondorf. When a Light Arrow stuns him, ride in and slash. Spin attacks scatter his phantom riders.
- Final duel: Ganondorf fights on foot with his sword. Block, then counter with Back Slices or by attacking from his unarmed side. When the screen shows the "Chance" prompt, press the button to lock swords with him and win the clash. When he falls to his knees, finish him with the Ending Blow.
Congratulations, you've finished Twilight Princess! Watch the ending to see what becomes of Midna and the Mirror of Twilight.
