Beta Quest

The Beta Quest is what the programmers left in from the early version of Ocarina of Time, but locked away from being able to access it. Our old pal Kukyfrope found a way in. The Beta Quest was not supposed to be found, and will freeze in a lot of places, mainly when the screen turns white. To use these codes, you enter them into your Gameshark.

There are 99 different beta quests. To find all of them you simply change the last two digits of the beta quest code. To make it easier for you to understand this we will give you an example of how to do this.

Lets take the 1.0 Version of Zelda 64 and use its beta quest code: 8011B9E3 0020

Now to find the other 98 beta quests you simply get rid of the last 2 digits: 8011B9E3 00XX

And replace them with any number 1-9: 8011B9E3 0076

That's all there is to it. Scroll down to see the different beta quest for your version of Zelda 64! Have fun!

Most of you if you have seen this code before have probably never seen the beta quest with 2 lines of code. I added the above line of code because you need to put it in, because it is an activator code. That is the only way you can get the beta quest to work. Do not change the above code or the beta quest will not appear automatically like it is suppose to.

Version 1.0 Process

  1. Time of Day Modifier (Noon): 8011A5DC 0192 + 8011A5DD 0000

You'll start out in the Beta Quest, but it will be Noon because of the code you put it--this is so you can see the pedestal! Go over to where you would normally go to Zora's Domain and go in. When the screen is fading to white, hold down L to activate the cut-scene instantly when you get in there, otherwise it will freeze. Sometimes holding down L locks up the game, some times it doesn't. Once you get the cut-scene activated, sit back and watch for the pedestal! After the cut-scene gets through, you won't be able to move. We're still working on that.

See The Triforce

First put in your gameshark, and put in the Beta Quest code and the Moon Jump Code. Then when you appear in Hyrule Field go to the gate where you can enter Lake Hylia. Press L to fly over the 2 black gates and land somewhere on the trail after the 2nd black gate. Now walk forward as if you are going to enter Lake Hylia then when the scenario starts of you running to Lake Hylia it will fade out in the shape of the triforce!

See The Triforce 2

V1.0 Codes Needed:

Beta Quest: 8011B9E3 0000
Moon Jump (press L to fly): D01C84B5 0020 + 811DAA90 40CB

V1.1 Codes Needed:

Beta Quest: 8011BBA3 0000
Moon Jump (press L to fly): D01C8675 0020 + 811DAC50 40CB

Here is the process that needs to be followed in order to see the Triforce on V1.0 and V1.1: Start your game with those Gameshark codes on and watch the N64 logo until it disappears. You'll then appear in Hyrule Field at night in the Beta Quest. Run towards the drawbridge that enters Hyrule Market. Press L to fly up and over the drawbridge and fall down to enter the Goron Shop. Let the Goron Shop fully come up from the fade before trying to leave otherwise it will mess up and you'll start falling. Now turn Link around and go back towards the entrance stepping slowly and not running to leave. You'll now be in the Castle Courtyard in the very ending sequence where it would normally flash "The End" and stuff with child Link looking at Zelda. If you have V1.0, you will see the stuff that would come up except the Courtyard will still be in color and you can move. If you have V1.1, you will not see this but just the regular Castle Courtyard. Now go over to one of the walls and make Link face the very center where the flowers are. Press L to start going up and when you get through the "celine" that you can go through. Now start pulling back on the analog stick to make Link float back. Now let go of L to start falling. Fall until you're below the scenery and start pressing L again and pressing forward on the analog stick. Go forward until you start swimming in the water. Swim forward and try and get right under the middle of the flowers. Now let go of everything and float to the top and let Link surface. Now after Link surfaces, press Up-C to look around. Look down towards Link's feet and to the left. There is the Triforce!

Here are the codes needed to see the Triforce on V1.2:

Beta Quest: 8011C093 0000
Moon Jump (press L to fly): D01C8D75 0020 + 811DB350 40CB
Warp Anywhere: D01C8D75 0010 + 8111C015 00F0

Here is the process: Start your game with those Gameshark codes on and watch the N64 logo until it disappears. You'll then appear in Hyrule Field at night in the Beta Quest. Pull out your Ocarina with a C-button and play the Prelude of Light (Up-C, Right-C, Up-C, Right-C, Left-C, Up-C) and when asked if you want to warp to the Temple of Time, say Yes. When the screen starts to fade to white, quickly press R and hold it until you appear in the Castle Courtyard. Next go over to one of the walls and make Link face the very center where the flowers are.
