Characters

Link

Link

Link starts out as a young boy much unaware of the land outside of the Kokiri forest, a place he has resided in his whole life. Different from the other Kokiri - children who stay children forever and who cannot leave the forest - in that Link lacks his own fairy guardian. Link quickly learns what destiny has in store for him when he is called upon by the Great Deku Tree to adventure outside the Kokiri Forest and save Hyrule. Link must brave many dangers and cross the threshold of time to find out what kind of man he could become.

Princess Zelda

Princess Zelda

The Princess of Hyrule, Zelda, asks an important favor of you when you are both young. She asks you to help her in finding the 3 spiritual stones. When things don't look good for Hyrule, she will give you the Ocarina of Time so that you are able to enter the Sacred Realm and use the Triforce to put a stop to the evil at hand.

Navi

Navi

A guardian fairy that is sent by the Deku Tree to awaken the hero inside Link. Many fans ridiculed her because of her constant barrage of "Hey! Listen!" throughout the game, but I personally never found her that bad.

Ganondorf

Ganondorf

The King of Evil, in his first appearance in human form. He appears to be loyal to the King of Hyrule, but despite Zelda's warnings to her father about how she felt about Ganondorf, the King refused to believe it. Ganondorf betrays the King and his band of Gerudo thieves overpower the Hyrulean solders and he steals the Triforce from the Sacred Realm once Link opens the door.

Saria

Saria

Saria is a kokiri and childhood friend of Link's. She will give the fairy ocarina to Link when Link first leaves the forest, and will teach you Saria's Song so you can talk to her no matter where in Hyrule Link is.

Kaepora Gaebora

Kaepora Gaebora

A sort of guardian, or watcher, Kaepora Gaebora is an owl that you'll meet as soon as you like the Kokiri Forest. His main tasks in the game seem to be to watch Link's progress and to recap events for the player, but only appears when Link is young. Once Link is grown up, Kaepora is not seen anymore.

Rauru

Rauru

Rauru is a character you first meet after waking up after 7 years of being asleep inside the Sacred Realm. He will explain that the Sacred Realm determined that young Link was much too young to be up to the task of saving Hyrule so locked him away until he was old enough to do. Many fans speculate on whether Rauru is Kaepora Gaebora due to the similiarities in appearance and the fact you never see Kaepora Gaebora once Link is an adult.

Impa

Impa

Impa is the personal caretaker and body guard of Princess Zelda. She is a Sheikah and the founder of Kakariko Village.

Darunia

Darunia

Darunia is the ruler of the Gorons. He is a "sworn brother" of the King of Hyrule and is insulted by child Link being so young when Link is sent as an ambassador of the royal family. Saria's Song calms him down and he eventually makes Link a "sworn brother" as well, after Link saves the gorons from King Dodongo.

Old Woman

Princess Ruto

Princess Ruto is stubborn, feisty, spoiled, and pretty much all the stereotypes of a typical princess. Princess Ruto demands Link carry her through the Jabu-Jabu dungeon when Link comes to rescue her, but ends up falling in love with our young hero once Link does save her and Jabu-Jabu.

King Zora

King Zora

King Zora is King of the Zoras and rules over Zora’s Domain. A very large man – fish? – King Zora is very slow in his movements and thus ends up being frozen solid when Zora’s Domain is frozen over.

Malon

Malon

Malon is a young girl that lives on Lon Lon Ranch with her father and their helper, Ingo. Malon seems to have a particular fascination with horses and will teach you Epona's Song.

Talon

Talon

Talon is the father of Malon and is a good natured, but very lazy, person. You will often find him asleep when he should be working.

Ingo

Ingo

Ingo works as a helper on the ranch but holds deep resentment toward Talon's lazyness and feels he should own the ranch because of how hard he works. Ganondorf eventually gives the ranch to Ingo and he casts out Talon and forces Malon to work for him.

Nabooru

Nabooru

Nabooru was the leader of the Gerudos, but despised Ganondorf. She is found in the Spirit Temple trying to obtain the silver gauntlets, which she'll ask for Link's help to get.

Dampe

Dampe

A graveyard caretaker in Kakariko Village, Dampe can be seen out and about at night and allows Link to dig up various spots for a chance at rupees, or even a Piece of Heart.
